Dubai International Airport has been enforcing strict measures to ensure safety amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, gaining trust among travelers.
Among the measures they have implemented include stern implementation of allowing people to enter the airport premises. In an interview with Gulf News, Brigadier Talal Ahmad Al Shanqiti, general director assistant of Ports Affairs at Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai, said that only travelers with valid tickets are allowed to enter the airport.
Passengers are also required to observe a two-meter distance between each other, as well as wear a face mask at all times.

A vending machine selling personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and gloves has also been put in place for travelers who wish to procure some.
He added that there will also be temperature scanning and that those with higher-than-normal temperature will be further checked and quarantined. They will wait for 10 minutes before they can pass through the check again.
If the temperature is still high, a medical team will arrive to check and assess if a passenger can be allowed to fly or not.
The airport has also set up a plastic barrier between the passenger and the airline staff at the check-in desk so as to ensure protection of both.
At the Passport Control counters, all travelers can use the smart gates for contactless immigration. Those who can’t use the gates, meanwhile, can use the traditional immigration counters that now have safety barriers between the passenger and the immigration officer. Travelers will be asked to briefly take off the mask and show their face to the officer.
At the departure gate, there are also barriers between seats as well as signs that remind people to observe social distancing.
Of course, all passengers arriving at Dubai are reminded once again to present a negative COVID-19 test report before they are allowed to enter the emirate.
Despite this, however, residents should go through another PCR test upon arrival and download the COVID-19 app to get the result. Those with a negative result can enter without undergoing quarantine. Otherwise, passengers will be ordered to be in self-quarantine for 14 days and retake the test again.
