Pakistani mangoes hit the UAE markets

The long wait is finally over for UAE consumers as the much-awaited Pakistani mangoes finally arrived in the UAE market.

Usually, the shipment arrives in Dubai by the third week of May and usually reaches the supermarket by the first week of June.

However, it experienced delay in delivery due to a sizeable production loss caused by climate change-led extreme weather conditions.

The first shipments were already sold out few days after its arrival, according to importers based in Al Aweer Fruit Market in an interview with Khaleej Times.

Mohammad Afzal, managing director of Bukhamas Trading Company,  said the weather conditions has rendered a 10-15 days delay in the mango crop in Pakistan this year.

However, he assured they’ll try to meet the target demand in the UAE and other GCC countries.

Pakistan is known for its variety of mangoes called Sindhri. It is known for its unique taste, golden colour, its size, and is considered as “one of the best varieties of mangoes in the world”.

Sindhri and another mango variety Almas have already made their way in Dubai.
