Filipinos who wish to fulfil their wanderlust feelings of visiting countries out of the usual top picks can now opt for Norway, specifically Oslo – to see the unique sights and sounds that the laidback country has to offer for its tourists.
Oslo is well known not only as Norway’s economic and governmental centre, it’s also known as the hub of Norwegian trade, banking, industry and shipping. The city is likewise revered for its green spaces, museums, and more. TFT Lifestyle TV’s Dan on the Go checks out Oslo’s top tourist attractions:
Karl Johan’s Gate. Located at the main street of Oslo, the street was named in honour of King Charles III also known as King of Sweden as Charles XIV John. The gate connects landmarks such as the Royal Palace of Oslo and Oslo Central Station.
Royal Palace. Built during the first half of the 19th century, the Royal Palace is located at the end of Karl Johan’s Gate. Most tourists wait for the changing of the guard that takes place every 1:30 pm. The guards are tasked to protect the royal family, as well as their residence.
Akerselva River and The Tiger. The flowing Akerselva river houses many of Oslo’s aquatic flora and fauna making it an Instagrammable scenery. The Tiger, located in front of Oslo’s Central Station, is one of Oslo’s most photographed inhabitants. The 4.5 metre bronze sculpture built by Elena Engelsen represents Oslo as the ‘Tiger City’when Oslo celebrated its 1000-year anniversary in 2000.
Opera House. Oslo’s Opera House is one of the most iconic modern buildings of Scandinavia. It is not only the centre of arts and culture, it has since also created a public space for people to meet.
Vigeland Park. Norway’s most visited attraction draws in more than 1 million visitors per year. 200 of the park’s sculptures were made by Gustav Vigeland out bronze, granite and cast iron under the theme “Circle of Life” to represent timeless pieces of art.
