Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco proudly announced that he recreated the iconic cobalt blue gown of Pia Wurtzbach’s wax figure at the Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong.
“I was commissioned by Madame Tussaud’s London to create a replica of the same gown she wore when she relinquished her crown in 2016,” Cinco said on his Instagram page.
Cinco had said he was requested by Wurtzbach herself to create her gown during the turnover of her crown in 2017.
It seems appropriate that he had to do it again for the Madame Tussauds wax museum.
“It took me 200 hours to finish the couture gown with their size and design specifications, less volume no train and less cleavage all made by skilled M5 artisan hands,” Cinco narrated.
The video clip showed how intricate his team had to assemble the full skirt gown with the thousands of Swarovski crystal embellishments.
Wurtzbach also wore the same gown during the unveiling of the wax figure.
The figure is based on the moment when she passed on the Miss Universe title Iris Mittenaere of France in 2016.
People can take photos with Pia’s wax figure and get their very own crowning moment.
The Miss Universe 2015 beauty is the first Filipino to be immortalized as a wax figure from Madame Tussauds
Madame Tussauds started with a museum in London and has since opened several museums all over the world. It is home to wax figures of prominent historical figures and contemporary celebrities, both dead and alive.
