WATCH: Book ticket, explore Emirates planes through virtual reality

Emirates airlines has introduced a web virtual reality (VR) technology which allows passengers to select their seats through 3D seat models.

With the new technology, passengers can explore the 3D 360 degree view of the interior and navigate through the Economy, Business, and First Class cabins.

They can also explore other services offered in the plane such as the Onboard Lounge and Shower Spa of the Airbus A380s and Boeing 777 planes.

Customers accessing emirates.com via their mobile devices or the Emirates app for iOS and Android will also be able to explore their seats before checking in online with the 3D seat map.

The tool allows customers to navigate from one seat to another and book their preferred seats from within the 3D environment.

Passengers are advised to use VR headset like Google Cardboard to get a full experience of the navigation.

Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand of Emirates, Alex Knigge, said that the technology would allow passengers to experience the plane even before they step on board.

“As we continually invest to provide our customers with an unmatched travel experience onboard and on the ground, we also work very hard to give our customers a world-class digital experience,” Knigge said.

“We are pleased to be the world’s first airline to introduce this cutting edge web VR technology, which offers our customers an immersive opportunity to learn more about the fantastic Emirates experience before they step on board,” he added.
