Kapamilya broadcast journalist and TV Patrol anchor Bernadette Sembrano revealed that she has been laid off as field reporter for the ABS CBN newscast segment ‘Lingkod Kapamilya’.

Sembrano clarified on social that she will still be anchoring the Kapamilya network’s primetime newscast together with Ted Failon and Noli De Castro.

“I got a call from my superior and I was told that I was retrenched. Today is Bnamnam day, I woke up feeling great hearing the voice of friends dear to me,” Sembrano told her followers on her Facebook page.

She also said that she is now focusing on songwriting. Her song was used in the new Kapamilya teleserye ‘Ang Sayo Ay Akin’ interpreted by female band Aegis.

“I also got good news that we are awaiting our membership sa FILSCAP (Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), so this is the organization na grupo siya ng composers and songwriters another big surprise, right?”she said.

Despite the good news, the Kapamilya journalist couldn’t help but be emotional on her retrenchment brought by the network’s non-renewal of its franchise.

“And immediately by noontime I got a call from my superior tungkol sa aking trabaho as a reporter for ABS-CBN, mga ginagawang field work for Lingkod Kapamilya, ‘yun ‘yung aking field work na ginagawa na assignment. And I was told that I was retrenched.

“Masakit din, but this isn’t the first time that this happened to me that I was enjoying the morning and then pagdating ng hapon medyo not so good news.

“So kung may kirot masakit, may sakit, ang sabi ko, ‘Ang galing talaga ni Lord mag balanse ng buhay,” she said.

She added, “So, that’s my first take away but when I spoke with my best friend, tinanong niya sa akin, ‘oh kumusta ka?’ sabi ko, ‘okay naman.’ This is something that we expected to happen because of our situation in ABS-CBN.”
