The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) unveiled Thursday night the “Power of Unity” crown for this year’s winner of the prestigious beauty pageant.
It has a total of 1,770 diamonds meticulously done by hand on 18-karat gold with a 62.83-carat golden canary diamond centerpiece balanced by two smaller diamonds beside it.
MUO President Paula Shugart said the headpiece is valued at $5 million or approximately Php253 million.
The video of the stunning, diamond-studded crown was posted on Miss Universe’s Facebook page.
Pascal Mouawad, co-guardian of Mouawad, the company that was commissioned to create the crown, talked about the inspiration behind the crown.
“We embraced the values of Miss Universe and translate them into a diamond-studded crown that represents symbol of ambition, diversity, unity, and beauty,” Pascal said.
The 2019 Miss Universe will be crowned on December 8 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Gazini Ganados is the Philippines’ bet for the 68th edition of the pageant.
