Irma Adlawan earns praise from netizens for portraying abused OFW on MMK

Netizens took to social media to express how actress Irma Adlawan’s impressive acting moved them to tears as they watched the latest “Maala-ala Mo Kaya” episode on Saturday, June 1.

Adlawan showed her acting prowess as she gave life to the inspiring story of Nena Ruiz, a former teacher who was abused when she decided to go the United States and work as a domestic helper.

Nena has been working as a teacher in the Philippines for 32 years when she was duped by a business partner who took all her life savings.

Left with no money and a hefty debt, Nena decided to go to the US to work as a caregiver, hoping that she will be able to earn back the money that was taken from her.

However, more problems came Nena’s way as she found out that the person who offered her the job abroad was a human trafficker.

She was then forced to work as a nanny for an abusive Filipino family in San Francisco. Nena would experience physical abuse and starvation from her employer who also pays her way below her supposed salary.

Through time, Nena was able to find help from other people who truly cares about her and was able to get the justice she wanted for herself.
