Marvel artist reveals Nadine Lustre was inspiration behind Wave

One of the illustrators behind Marvel’s first Filipina superhero, Wave, took to Facebook to reveal that actress Nadine Lustre was his inspiration behind the visuals of the said character.

Posting a photo of Wave next to a photo of Lustre, Marvel artist Mico Suayan revealed a little trivia saying that he based Wave’s facial features on the said actress.

Because of Suayan’s revelation, many fans are wondering if Lustre will soon be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and portray Wave on the big screen.

Lustre has not made any statements about Suayan’s revelation and her fans’ speculations.

Wave will be among the new “Agents of Atlas” that will debut in May this year. She will be accompanied by other new Marvel superheroes such as Aero and Sword Master from China in the new series “War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1” set in Asia.

Not much have been revealed about Wave but based on the photos that have been circulating online, she is seen donning a black, gold, and green ensemble while holding the Kampilan, the sword of ancient Filipino hero Lapu-Lapu.

Given her name and illustrations, it is also believed that Wave’s superpower is associated with the water and sea creatures.

Aside from Lustre, it can also be recalled that Leinil Yu, another Filipino artist who co-created and designed the Filipina superhero, said that he is already considering actress Angel Locsin to take over the role of Wave in case she will make an appearance in a Marvel film.

Locsin, however, had made it clear that she is done playing superheroes and that she not planning on accepting any offers to portray Wave on the big screen.
