The Philippine Seismic Network has recorded 75 earthquakes as of 5 a.m. of January 13, 2020. Such
intense seismic activity according to PHIVOLCS means that continues magmatic intrusion is present beneath the volcano’s edifice which may lead to further eruptions.
At least 32 quakes were recorded with intensities ranging from Intensity II-V in Tagaytay City, Alitagtag, Lemery, Bauan in Batangas and Cabuyao in Laguna.
According to Nikko Leoven Adan Pagsuyoin, a resident of Alitagtag, Batangas, they continue to experience earthquakes since last night.
“Sobrang lalakas po ng lindol na nararanasan namin dito as in maya’t maya po,” he said
Pagsuyoin added that the quakes usually last for about 10-20 seconds but no damage has been reported.
Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS reiterated its’s advice for residents inside the 14-kilometer radius danger zone to evacuate the area since threat of pyroclastic flow is very high.
Areas north of Taal Volcano also reminded to guard themselves from heavy and prolonged ashfall.
