Three have died from leptospirosis in Central Luzon over the past two months, an official from the Department of Health said on Tuesday, September 11.
Dr. Jessie Fantone, DOH spokesperson for the region said that 128 more people were infected by animal urine in floodwater from July 1 to August 31.
The three mortality cases came in separate from Hagonoy town in Bulacan, Angeles City in Pampanga and Paniqui town in Tarlac.
The DOH also recorded a 74 percent rise of leptospirosis cases at 247 during the first half of 2018, reported the PDI.
Leptospirosis is characterized by flu-like symptoms such fever, muscular pain, eye redness, chills, severe headache, vomiting, diarrhea or yellowish skin discoloration.
