His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 547 prisoners of different nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments, in celebration of Eid Al Adha.
The Attorney-General of Dubai Essam Issa Al Humaidan said His Highness’s gesture to pardon inmates aims to offer them a fresh start in life, ease their families’ suffering, and help them reintegrate into the community.
The Attorney-General also said that Dubai Public Prosecution has immediately begun coordinating with Dubai Police to implement the order.
Earlier, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan also ordered the release of 704 prisoners across UAE to give them a chance to start a new life, and alleviate the suffering of their families.
The President also pledged to settle the financial obligations of the released prisoners.
Moreover, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, also ordered the release of 272 prisoners in the emirate in celebration of Eid Al Adha.
