With more than 7 million followers across all of her social media platforms, Alodia Gosiengfiao has established herself as one of the pioneers of cosplay in the Philippines.
Alodia started cosplaying in 2003 and by September, she’ll be celebrating her 15th year of being an active part of the worldwide cosplay community. With her creativity in creating costumes and huge following on social media, she has been invited and travelled to several countries such as the US, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong, to participate as a guest and judge for cosplay competitions.
“This is my fourth year here in the Middle East Film and Comic Con. The reason why I keep on coming back is here in Dubai, you can feel the spirit – MEFCC is a family to me already. They were so small back then tapos every year it keeps on getting bigger and better and now it’s so huge,” said Alodia.
Wearing many hats as a cosplayer, gamer, artist, and vlogger, her biggest challenge at the moment is lack of time. When asked which aspect she would want to focus on more if she had time, Alodia said: “I’d love to make more videos related to the geek culture.”
Alodia also shared a quick hack for cosplayers who love to travel with their costumes “I like making armor – so maybe if you wanna travel with your costume try to use light weight material para di ka ma overweight sa luggage,” said Alodia.
Alodia plans to travel the world not just for cosplay but to just see and appreciate the world as it is. She also gave a message and shout out to the cosplay community: “I hope to meet them one day in the next Comic Con and keep it up! I wanna see them grow and have fun and the community,” said Alodia.
