It’s free to dream, they say. Some dreams, however, seem harder to reach than others.
James Diño thought he would never be able to make his dream of being a chef come true.
After his parents died, James began to support himself and his brother by applying, even working long hours in a bakery, reported ABS-CBN.
James, an orphan, later found home in Tuloy Foundation, alongside street children and out-of-school youth. He admitted that he had difficulties adjusting in his new home.
Then, wheels began to turn. Fr. Marciano “Rocky” Evangelista, President and Founder of the foundation, saw James’ potential as a chef. It was then that he was offered free education at the Alain Ducasse Institute in Enderun College.
After winning a cooking competition, James was sent to a three-month intensive training. He also became an intern in a few hotels and was even employed in Four Seasons Dubai.
It was after working in the aforementioned restaurant that James unlocked his new destination: France. There he trained with renowned restaurateur Alain Ducasse.
The Pinoy chef said his source of inspiration is his family and that his goal is to always do his best to make those who supported him during his journey in becoming a chef proud.
