Dimafelis employers to face death sentence in Kuwait if found guilty

The employers of the ill-fated overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Kuwait, Joanna Dimafelis, will be facing death sentence by hanging in Kuwait if found guilty, according to Philippine envoy.

This, however, will only happen if the two primary suspects, Nader Essam Assaf and his wife Mona Hassoun, will be extradited to Kuwait, said Philippine Ambassador Renato Villa.

“Dito sa Kuwait, kung mapatunayan ‘yung kasong murder, ay death by hanging [ang parusa],” Villa told GMA News.

The suspects were reportedly netted by the Interpol in a separate operation in Lebanon and Syria on Feb. 22 and 23, respectively.

Other reports say that they were arrested in the Syria but Assaf was brought to Lebanon while his wife Mona has been detained Syria.

This information, however, was not confirmed by the envoy. Villa said that he only relies on the information being relayed to him by the Kuwaiti authorities.
