Abu Dhabi—A new 4.2-kilometre running track along the Abu Dhabi Corniche has opened for the public, said Abu Dhabi City Municipality.
The Dh4 million pedestrian facilities were completed in May this year. It is complemented by cycling tracks on the opposite side of the Corniche Road. It comprises two lanes – one for running and the other for walkers. It starts from Mina Zayed and ends at intersection A7 on Abu Dhabi Corniche.
The project is part of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport as well as the Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s plans to improve the quality of life in the Capital. It is in line with Abu Dhabi Plan 2030 that aims at raising the bar on service delivery.
The construction of dedicated tracks for walking, running and cycling is carried out using state-of-the-art technology and material capable of eliminating the negative impact on the health of joggers. The project reflects the commitment of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality to its corporate values to improve urban lifestyles. The municipality is moving ahead with the delivery of projects for improving the infrastructure in a way that meets the expectations of community members.
The project constitutes an important addition to the Abu Dhabi Corniche in terms of aesthetic profile and service contents. The sporting track enhances the beauty of the city and boasts of creative engineering shapes that add diversity to the picturesque setting of the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
On the opposite side of the Walk, there is another track dedicated to cyclists. The two tracks, thus, offer a comprehensive sporting environment for those fond of walking, running or cycling. During the construction phase of the Walk, the municipality provided sun-protected zones for the comfort of users.
