Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Attorney Persida Acosta casted doubt on Philippine National Police’s (PNP) DNA test results that concluded the body found in Nueva Ecija was not Reynaldo “Kulot” De Guzman.
In a report on Balitanghali, Acosta said there is more credibility on the parents of 14-year-old Kulot identifying the remains. Based on the photos given by Kulot’s parents, it was a match.
The reliability of the DNA test depends on the reliability of the specimen, Acosta said.
On PAO’s comparative analysis, it was Kulot who was found dead in a creek in Gapan, Nueva Ecija.
Deputy Director General Fernando Mendez said the blood and buccal (inside mouth) samples taken from Kulot’s parents failed to match the DNA from the body found in Nueva Ecija.
“Hindi siya si Reynaldo de Guzman. Hindi siya (katawan) yung anak ng mag-asawa,” Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted Mendez.
PNP said they will continue looking for Kulot, who is now considered missing.
Kulot was last seen alive with Carl Angelo Arnaiz, the slain son of an overseas Filipino worker based in Dubai, after they went out with their friends to buy midnight snacks in Cainta, Rizal.
