Parents of murdered Abu Dhabi boy demand death penalty

The parents of a slain 11-year-old boy demanded the court a death penalty on the man who allegedly sexually assaulted and killed their son.

The parents of Azan Majid Janjua, a Pakistani father and a Russian mother, denied the “blood money” request and opted for a death penalty to the Pakistani man who was accused of incident, Gulf News has reported.

The Pakistani, identified as MB, allegedly sexually assaulted Janjua and strangled him to death with a piece of laundry line.

His body was found by maintenance workers on the rooftop of the building where his family resides.

The accused denied all the allegations against him in the previous hearing.

Hassan Al Riyami, the suspect’s defense lawyer, requested to have his client tested for mental stability because the acts could only be committed by someone with mental health problems, said local reports.

“There is no way that a stable, sane person would commit such a crime,” Gulf News quoted the lawyer as saying.

However, the Pakistani denied such preexisting mental health condition his lawyer suggested.

The court will continue the hearing for the case on October 11.
