Dubai Municipality reminded residents or expats alike not to spit on the street to avoid a potentially hefty amount of fine/penalty.
“It’s small in size, but it has a negative impact on the appearance of the city. Do not throw chewing gums on roads to avoid a fine of Dh500,” said the municipality.
As part of the initiative to enhance cleanliness in the city Dubai Municipality posted a list of various offences and fines on its website.
Spitting in a public place can cost Dh500 to Dh1000 in fine.
Offences like throwing waste on the streets and urinating in a space not intended for such purpose will also cost Dh500 in fine in Dubai.
