Dubai projection show scores back-to-back world record

Several companies have teamed up to add a new entry to Dubai’s stronghold of Guinness World Records for showcasing the world’s largest permanent projection mapping.

The InterContinental Dubai Festival City staged Imagine’s brand-new and multi-sensory show called “A Child’s Dream” last May 4, the Khaleej Times reported Monday.

James Koratzopoulos, regional general manager at IHG Dubai and area general manager at the Festival City; Steven Cleaver, director of shopping centers at Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate; as well as Hiroki Soejima and Yasuo Yamasaki, managing director and director of marketing for Panasonic Middle-East and Africa, received the Guinness citation.

“To be a double Guinness World Record holder is something we are truly proud and are privileged to be able to share it with our thousands of visitors. [We] cannot wait to share another spectacular addition of the daily Imagine attraction to our guests over the coming weeks and months,” Trade Arabia quoted Cleaver as saying.

The show utilized high definition Panasonic video projectors to generate 1.4-meter lumens of light, six giant aqua screens that created over 1,271-square meter liquid walls, 30 50-meter illuminated fountains and nine 248-meter milli-watts laser energy.

Imagine also holds the Guinness World Record for the largest water screen projection, which was conferred in December.

The show depicts the story of a boy’s dream that touches on airplanes, magical whales, treehouses and dancing robots.
