DMW, NCMF launch financial literacy program for Muslim OFWs

The Department of Migrant Workers-National Capital Region and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos have launched a financial literacy and livelihood orientation program aimed at helping Muslim overseas Filipino workers and their families achieve long-term financial stability.

The program, titled “From Halal Income to Barakah Wealth: Empowering Muslim OFWs Through Financial Literacy and Livelihood Orientation,” was launched on June 10 at the DMW One-Stop AKSYON Center in Makati City.

According to the DMW, the initiative seeks to raise awareness on financial management, halal livelihood opportunities, and sustainable reintegration programs for Muslim OFWs and their families.

National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Secretary Sheikh Sabuddin N. Abdurahim said the partnership aims to bring inclusive financial literacy and livelihood support closer to Muslim overseas workers.

“The NCMF welcomes this partnership with DMW to bring inclusive financial literacy and livelihood support closer to Muslim OFWs and their families. Together, we aim to help them build a more secure, sustainable, and dignified future,” Abdurahim said.

DMW Assistant Secretary for Reintegration Services Francis Ron C. De Guzman said the agency plans to expand the program through DMW regional offices nationwide.

“The successful launch of this partnership is only the beginning. We look forward to bringing this program to more OFWs and their families through DMW Regional Offices nationwide,” De Guzman said.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader reintegration efforts aimed at strengthening financial empowerment, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience among overseas Filipino workers and their families.
