The Dubai Police have reported 32 accidents caused by people not following the rules while using electric bicycles and e-scooters in the last eight months. Sadly, these accidents resulted in five deaths and injuries to 29 others, with two being severe, 14 moderate, and 13 minor injuries.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, says they’ve given out 10,031 fines to electric bicycle and e-scooter riders during this time. Dubai Police is determined to make everyone on the road more aware of traffic rules to prevent accidents and keep people safe.
Al Mazroui stresses that riders must follow safety rules, like obeying traffic laws, using proper paths, avoiding fast roads, wearing helmets and reflective jackets, following traffic lights and signs, and making sure their vehicles have bright lights at the front and back, along with good brakes.
Al Mazroui also wants to make it clear that all road users, whether you’re driving, riding, or walking, have the right to use the roads safely. Dubai Police is working hard to make the roads safer by catching people who break traffic rules and reducing accidents.
In a simple message, Dubai Police reminds everyone to follow the rules and stay safe on the roads. It’s a team effort to protect lives and prevent accidents.
