E-scooter users in Abu Dhabi advised to use dedicated lanes only

Abu Dhabi Police have issued an advisory on use of e-scooters and asked people to use only dedicated lanes.

Brigadier General Muhammad Dhahi Al Hamiri, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in the Central Operations Sector said that bicycle safety instructions must be followed and dangerous stunts must be avoided.

Riders of scooters or electric bikes have been also asked to wear helmets and other safety and protective gear and follow guidelines for traffic safety. A rider must wear reflective clothing at night time and park bikes in designated areas only.

Cyclists and users of micro-mobility devices can only use the lanes and roads designated for bicycles and use side roads at the speed limit of 20 kilometers per hour. Police asked people to travel on the far right-hand side of the road or on sidewalks and pavements dedicated to the use of bicycles.

Bicycle riders must give way to pedestrians and decrease their speed at intersections and crossroads.
