One of the first groups that encouraged Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso’s to run for the presidential elections last year has shifted their support to Vice President Leni Robredo.
Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas, which has more than 2,000 members in the Visayas alone, said they deemed Robredo as the only candidate who can block the Marcoses intent to return to power.
“We still maintain that Isko is really good and everything he’s done for Manila,” said IM Visayas lead convenor Nick Malazarte in a press conference on Monday.
“But the thing is, the numbers are not working for him. So, even [on] Facebook, and other social media platforms, the conversation is between Leni and BBM,” he added.
“There is a danger of the Marcoses getting back to power, that is why if we believe Yorme (Moreno) is the best, we have somebody better (Robredo) because the alternative is the worst, who is BBM (Ferdinand Marcos Jr.),” he said.
The group reached a consensus among its leaders until Sunday night, Malazarte said.
They are currently in touch with Robredo’s camp to launch motorcades and house-to-house campaigning for Robredo.
