The UAE’s Wadi Wurayah has been featured in the UNESCO World Heritage Site tentative list.
The site in Fujairah is home to at least 860 different species of plants and animals which include caracal, Arabian tahr, Blanford’s fox, and native orchid.

The park is spread over 220 square kilometers and was declared a nature reserve in 2009 and recognized since 2010 as an important wetland under the Ramsar Convention.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah expressed delight over the first steps for recognition of Wadi Wurayah as a World Heritage Site, reported state news agency WAM.

It has the only permanent waterfall in the UAE and the addition of the park has brought the number of UAE sites on the tentative list to 13.
The other sites include Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Jazirah Al Hamra pearling village and the Shimal tombs.
