LOOK: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid visits Philippines Pavilion ‘Bangkota’ at Expo 2020 Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai visited the Philippines Pavilion ‘Bangkota’ on March 18.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Hjayceelyn Quintana, welcomed Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and toured him around the premises of the Philippines’ largest participation in an Expo to date.

“On behalf of the Philippines Organizing Committee for the World Expo, I had the honor of welcoming His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to the Philippines Bangkóta Pavilion on 18 March 2022 together with his top Cabinet Ministers. I thanked His Highness for UAE’s wonderful support to the success and strong presence of the Philippines at the World Expo.” said Quintana.

The Philippine Ambassador also extended the country’s gratitude to His Highness for the UAE’s utmost support for the Philippines for the highly-successful global expo.

“I thanked His Highness for UAE’s wonderful support to the Philippines’ successful and strong presence at the World Expo,” said Amb. Quintana.

The Dubai Media office tweeted this about the visit: “His Highness was taken on an immersive trip through the nation’s aquatic wonderlands, an imaginative coral village packed with artistic wonders which convey a powerful message about safeguarding marine life.”

The Philippines recently marked over a million visitors to the Bangkota and has prepared a plethora of events in the final two weeks of the Expo that will exhibit some of the best Filipino food, celebrate Filipino talent, and encourage entrepreneurship and good health through talks and fitness programs.

The message of “cultural sustainability” espoused by the Philippines Pavilion was very well-received by the Expo visitors. The Philippines also hosted a number of major activities that showcased Filipino culture, talent, and the government’s thrusts, thus creating a new appreciation of the Philippines and its people in the Expo’s global stage. Among these were the “Paskong Pinoy sa World Expo” on 3 December 2021, the Philippine National Day ceremony on 11 February 2022 capped by the Gala Night Performance “Daluyong ng Diwa”, and a host of activities at the Bangkóta showcasing the Philippines as the centre of world biodiversity, as a country pursuing space, artificial intelligence and advanced technology cooperation, as an exponent of cultural sustainability, and as an excellent destination for investment and tourism.
