The global index, Henley Passport Index, has ranked UAE passport as one of the most powerful in the world.
It is also the only Arab country that ranked on the list of the world’s top 20 most powerful passports.
The ranking is based on the number of destinations the holders can access without a prior visa.
At 15th place, the UAE has a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 175.
The Henley index said, “The UAE continues its remarkable upward trajectory on the Henley Passport Index, having recently reinstated in practical terms its landmark US-brokered agreement with Israel, suspended throughout most of the pandemic.”
The country was ranked 16th last year, with a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 173 while in 2020, the UAE was ranked 18th.
The UAE is ranked ahead of destinations like Chile, Bulgaria, Brazil and Israel and the index ranks passports based on “exclusive data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA)” and includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.
