Dubai Police arrested a total of 145 international fugitives in the first nine months of 2021.
The police force captured some of the world’s most notorious crime lords, often using sophisticated surveillance techniques to snare its targets.
This included one of Italy’s most wanted men, who allegedly sold two stolen Van Gogh paintings on the black market.
Officers raided the residence of Raffaele Imperiale, 46, who is alleged to be a leading figure in the feared Camorra organised crime syndicate in Naples, on July 30 and valuables including cash and paintings were seized in the raid.
Dubai Police also caught the French drug dealer and international crime kingpin Moufide ‘Mouf’ Bouchibi, also known as ‘the Ghost’ as he was arrested in Dubai travelling under a false identity after 10 years on the run.
Dubai Police received a red notice from Interpol against Bouchibi before he arrived in the emirate using forged identification to evade detection.
