Several schools in the UAE are looking to increase daily timing to shift to curtailed weekday schedules.
Most schools across the UAE have shut for the winter break and students will follow a new academic week when they will reopen next year.

The schools will shift to a four-and-a-half-day workweek with Saturday, Sunday and Friday half-day forming the new weekend.
The Education regulators have directed schools to ensure that classes are finished by 12pm on Fridays.
At the schools academic week has been shortened by half a day and some schools are planning to increase school days to make up for this.

Officials from Al Khaleej International School and Gems Education said that they will increase the school timing from Monday to Thursday to compensate for the short day on Friday which will give students an extra two lessons.
Some schools are looking to adjust lunch and break times while some see it as a challenge for working parents to accommodate the changes. (AW)
