A Filipino teen from Dubai was the recent addition to Team Lea in the Philippines’ The Voice Teens.
Josh Labing-isa, whose parents are in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), said he wanted to be a singer so his parents could stop working and come home to the Philippines.
“Ang tagal na po nilang nagtatrabaho sa UAE. So kapag naging sikat na singer po ako, if ever, gusto ko po mapauwi na sila kasi grabe na po ang hirap nila,” he told the coaches.
Labing-isa performed the song “Paano”, originally sang by Freestyle.
Coach Lea Salonga turned for him right before he finished his performance.
In an interview with The Filipino Times (TFT), Labing-isa thanked those who witnessed and waited for his performance.
“Sana po ay ‘wag kayong mag sawang sumuporta sa’kin kasi I’m getting ready and I’ve been practicing na po for the next round which is the battle rounds po para hindi ko po madisappoint yung mga taong naniniwala po sa akin,” he told TFT.
His performance, which was uploaded on Youtube, already gained one million views.
