The Dubai Municipality and the Health and Safety Department ordered the closure of buffet establishments, as part of the new guidelines set by the emirate as safety measures against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Authorities called on food establishments in the emirate to comply on new rules that took effect on March 16 and is expected to last until further notice.
Under the circular, food establishments are also limited on selling 50 meals per order.
Customers are not allowed in the waiting area to limit the number people in the premises.
Seating tables shall have a space of 2 meters to observe social distancing as well.
Authorities also urged the establishments to use disposable cups. It stressed that eating utensils for serving food and beverages in facilities that have automated dishwashing facilities will be allowed provided that it meet the disinfection requirements. Regular plates and cutlery can also be used.
Delivery service and takeaway orders with adequate food safety precautions are highly encouraged to reduce contact.
Tables must also be cleaned and disinfected upon the departure of customer.
Customers and staff manifesting flu symptoms will be barred to enter the establishment.
“Regular and frequent inspections will be conducted to ensure the compliance, where non-complaint food establishments will be violated according to the enforced rules by Food Safety Department,” the circular read.
