State-owned China Communications Construction Co. has announced that it will be teaming up with businessman Lucio Tan, owner of MacroAsia Corp., to build a $10 billion international airport in Sangley, Cavite.
The companies were the sole bidder of the airport plan and could be the next airport constructed to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Last June, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he wants to move domestic flights to Sangley airport to ease the congestion at NAIA.
Transportation chief Arthur Tugade said that he is in talks with at least three airlines to move their operations at Sangley Airport.
The Transportation Department has started the dry run in the Sangley Airport.
San Miguel Corporation also bagged the contract for another international airport in Bulacan, Bulacan.
