Teenage girl rescued by Dubai Police after being sold for Dh8,000 and forced into prostitution ring

A 17-year-old Asian girl who was brought to Dubai after she was told she would work at a hairdressing saloon was sold for Dh8,000 and forced into prostitution by an Asian vice ring which was smashed by the police.

The girl herself went behind the back of her new owners and called the police after she refused to sell her body to customers and begged them to send her back home.

The girl told police a woman visited her family in their home country and offered to bring her to Dubai to work as a hairdresser.

The girl said her father quickly agreed because of the family’s financial difficulties and that the woman managed to have a passport issued for her with forged data showing she is not a minor and is above 17 years old.

When she was in Dubai, she was taken to an apartment where a woman told her she would work as a prostitute.

“She started to cry and told an Asian man who heads a vice ring she would not do so… he then took her to some vice networks to sell her but most of them refused because she looked too young and they could be charged of human trafficking,” the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm said.

“Finally, another Asian agreed to buy her for Dh8,000 and tried to force her to work as a prostitute but she resisted… she then managed to flee the flat and called the police, who came and arrested three people.”

The paper said trial of the three started on Wednesday while the girl was handed to a government care centre.
