Vasiliy Lomachenko showed why he is the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter when pulled off a unanimous win over British challenger Luke Campbell at the packed O2 Arena in London.
The win allowed the Ukranian boXer to retain his WBA/WBO lightweight titles and snatChed the vacant WBC title.
Scores were 119-108, 119-108 and 118-109.
Lomachenko needs just one more belt to become the undisputed lightweight champion. He is looking to fight the winner in the Richard Commey-Teofimo Lopez duel.
“Of course I’m happy. I want to say thank you to {everyone} who came to support us. I want to thank everyone who organized this fight. And, of course, I’m happy. Next… {I want to fight for the} IBF {title}. That is my title,” said Lomachenko in Top Rank release.
Campbell admitted Lomachencko was the better fighter.
“He just beat me, so he’s very good. He’s a special fighter and we all knew he was a special fighter. This is boxing and we train to win. Obviously, I’m disappointed in myself for not getting the victory,” Campbell said.
