An Asian expat is on trial in Sharjah on charges of robbing a man who tried to help him by giving him money.
The victim was driving one night when he spotted the suspect who appeared to be in bad shape, according to Emarat Al Youm newspaper.
The victim stopped his car, pulled out his purse and tried to give the Asian some money.
But the Asian turned out to be greedy after he saw a large sums of money in the purse.
“He snatched the purse off the man’s hand and ran away. He was caught by the police on the next day,” the paper said.
In court on Wednesday, the suspect pleaded for mercy on the grounds he was in bad need for money.
The sentence will be handed down on September 23.
