Travelers are having a hard time entering the United States due to its new policy on social media.
U.S. border officials continue to reject foreign nationals Foreign nationals rejected based on their conversations, images and videos posted on social media like Facebook and Twitter. It also include messaging apps like WhatsApp.
A report by techcrunch.com said a Palestinian national living in Lebanon and an upcoming freshman in Harvard was denied entry to the U.S. after Immigration officials allegedly questioned the 17-year-old Ismail Ajjawi about his religious practices. Officers who searched his phone and computer reportedly took issue with his friends’ social media activity.
Some 1.13 million passengers by air, sea and land are being processed by the U.S. Customs & Border Protection on a daily basis.
Officials on the other hand denied entry to more than 760 people. Reasons for denial were sometimes stated and clear like criminal conviction or false documentation.
There were other instances however were grounds for denial were not given.
