Vico Sotto: Stop treating gov’t officials like showbiz personalities

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto isn’t happy with media reports on his love life and the possibility of getting married before the age of 40.

“Hindi naman po tayo magiging choosy. More than matalino, gusto ka sanang same wavelength kami lalo na sa topic ng governance,” Sotto said in an interview with GMA News.

The new mayor’s remarks on the status of heart prompted netizens to apply to be his first girlfriend.

But Sotto isn’t happy with the story angle and explained he just did it to shift the interview topic.

“I made this joke during an interview to change the topic. It is definitely not newsworthy. If I knew it would get this much attention, I just wouldn’t have answered,” Sotto said in a Twitter post.

The Pasig mayor added that people should start treating politicians seriously if they want good governance.

Vico, son of popular actor and Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto, encourages the public to stop treating government officials as showbiz personalities.

“If we want better governance, we should stop treating our government officials like showbiz personalities,” he said.
