The design for the second runway of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is now underway.
According to Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIAA) General Manager Steve Dicdican, Phil. JAC Inc., an aviation and airport engineering consultancy firm is currently designing it.
Dicdican said they are expecting the design to be completed in October.
The procurement process will follow in November and by December, they will be able to award the construction contract.
Construction of the P2.5-billion runway is expected to begin in January 2020 and the target completion is within the term of the current administration.
With this, it is expected that MCIA’s capacity will increase and Cebu can expect an influx of more tourists coming to the island.
