A day after being elected as senator, former Philippine National Police director-general Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said he is willing to attend seminars on law making except at the University of the Philippines, where he is “not safe in that place.”
“I will take the opportunity to learn. I will study and plan my actions,” Dela Rosa said in Filipino during an interview with CNN Philippines.
But when the country’s premier state university was suggested to him, Dela Rosa refused.
“I’m not going to venture there. I’m not safe in that place!” he said in jest.
“That place is anti-military. I don’t want to go there. They are anti-police!” he claimed.
Dela Rosa said he would just seek the help of Senators Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and JV Ejercito.
“I’ll call Koko Pimentel, JV Ejercito and I’ll ask what’s the work of a senator and what do I need to prepare so when I join them I wouldn’t be a laughing stock,” he added.
