UAE authorities are set to install a smart system on school buses in Dubai to prevent cases of pupils being locked inside.
The Ministry of Education and Emirates Transport will integrate smart devices in 2,345 school buses between August and October to ensure the safety of 100,000 students enrolled in 383 government schools in Dubai.
The smart feature will be implemented in November.
The ministry will establish a centralized control center that will monitor the movements of buses and its routes, Arabian Business reports.
The smart system will utilize students’ identification card to ensure that they have boarded the bus and will feature a device that will emit loud sound alerts in case students are left inside.
The project was launched following the Court of Cassation Abu Dhabi’s decision to seize Al Worood Academy Private School after a three-year-old student died when she was left locked inside a school bus.
