Thousand of visitors are expected to flock Barangay Digkilaan in Iligan City to view what residents believed to be an image of Virgin Mary on a piece of corn.
According to Virginia Ancho, the caretaker of the corn, the image grew more defined and clear during the past year.
Inscribe on it is an image of a woman with a crown, with hands closed together.
Ancho believes that this artifact gave her grandson a second chance in life after a head injury.
The artifact called “Birhen sa Mais” was found by Catalina Barita back in 2002 while picking corn to feed her chickens.
Allegedly, Barita saw the image in one of the corn she grasped.
When Barita died, she was buried near the altar built for the artifact in 2012.
Experts and even the Church, however, have not yet examined the said artifact.
