Pet shop’s license suspended for selling sick dogs

Petholicks, a pet shop in Dubai, was reported to be selling dogs with viruses, causing the local government to suspend their license.

Some of the sold dogs died days after purchase, while other owners had to pay veterinary bills.

Fourteen people who claimed to have purchased a sick dog pushed Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC) to take action.r

One of them is Natalie Kardoush who was given a poodle by her husband. Two days after taking the dog home, the pet became ill with parvovirus, reported The National.

The veterinarian they consulted said the dog will only live for two more days. The dog, however, were able to survive the virus.

“Petholicks still has a license, but the shop’s right to sell live animals has been suspended,” a spokesman from DMCC said in the report.

“The owner is no longer allowed to sell animals and DMCC will not be renewing that licence when it expires, so no live animals are permitted on the premises.”

The shop’s license will expire on October.
