A newborn baby tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Cebu City, according to the Department of Health office in Central Visayas (DOH-7).
The DOH said the mother of the baby took a COVID-19 test before giving birth.
The agency is still investigating how the baby contracted the disease since his mother tested negative for the virus, Inquirer reported.
The baby is among the seven new cases reported in Cebu City.
The baby is still under monitoring according to DOH-Central Visayas.
Cebu City is the hotspot for COVID-19 in Central Visayas region which accounts for 173 cases of the 203 cases recorded in the region.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella revealed that two of the seven new cases are inmates from Cebu City Jail.
