Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Pope Francis reaffirm cooperation to beat COVID-19 pandemic

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, discussed the UAE and the Catholic church’s friendship, cooperation and the prevailing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a phone conversation, the two leaders highlighted the importance of solidarity and global cooperation in order to beat the pandemic infecting over 700,000 people across the globe.
In a report on Emirates News Agency WAM, the two leaders have discussed ways based on the Human Fraternity Document, which was signed in Abu Dhabi last year.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed wished Pope Francis good health and conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his wishes for continued good health and safety.
His Highness also scored the importance of major religions around the world in these challenging times. Moreover, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed has also expressed his appreciation to Pope Francis’ efforts to call for global unity, emphasizing that the UAE will continue to support global efforts in order to beat the spread of the virus and will extend help to those who may be in need.
Pope Francis lauded His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and UAE’s humanitarian initiatives. The Catholic leader also stressed the importance of upholding human values in times of crisis.
