A powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded off Russia’s Kuril Islands on Wednesday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS)
This prompted the issuance of a tsunami warning by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center that says hazardous tsunami waves were possible within 1,000km of the quake’s epicenter.
The quake was recorded by USGS with a depth of 59 kilometers, around 1,400 kilometers north-east of the Japanese city of Sapporo.
There were no reported damages, as of this writing.
