A Marawi City resident who was declared a Patient Under Investigation (PUI) of COVID-19 disease died at Amai Pakpak Medical Center yesterday morning.
Hours after his death, the Lanao del Sur government received a report that he is confirmed of the novel coronavirus.
Zia Alonto Adiong, spokesperson of Lanao del Sur Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19, said the patient attended a Muslim religious gathering in Malaysia last February 27-March 1.

Adiong, who is also a member of parliament of Bangsamoro Administrative Region for Muslim Mindanao, said the patient was buried yesterday afternoon in accordance with Muslim tradition.
Three staff from the hospital and city health office, wearing hazmat suits, buried the patient.
Meanwhile, a board member of Lanao del Sur provincial government has enforced a voluntary home quarantine after arriving from Malaysia.
Board Member Abdulrashid Balindong admitted is attended the Tabligh conference, too. He claims he has no symptoms of COVID like fever, cough, sore throat and he is being monitored too by the provincial health office.
