China sent medical supplies and a team of medical experts in Italy to help the virus battered country combat coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
Chinese Red Cross organized a team of nine Chinese medical personnel which arrived on March 12 along with 30 tons of medical equipment on a flight organized in the Mediterranean country, Reuters reported.

“In this moment of great stress, of great difficulty, we are relieved to have this arrival of supplies. It is true that it will help only temporarily, but it is still important,” Italian Red Cross chief Francesco Rocca said.
The outbreak risks overwhelmed Italian hospitals and some key supplies are running low.
Italy is struggling to contain the virus which has reported 17,660 cases with 1268 fatalities.

A nationwide lockdown is already imposed, and many establishments were forced to shut to restrict movements of the people.
According to Reuters, China’s aid came as European Union countries denied Rome’s calls for help with medical supplies earlier this month as they looked to stockpile face masks and other equipment to help their own citizens.
