The Philippine Embassy in the UAE has released an advisory for Filipinos planning to travel to and from the Philippines following the President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement of a Community Quarantine in Metro Manila.
In the statement, the embassy urged Filipinos living in the UAE to forego or postpone their travel plans if it’s not urgent amid the spread of COVID-19 in various countries.
The embassy advised those with urgent travel plans towards the Philippines that while they will always have the right to enter the country; they have to double check with their respective airlines regarding travel arrangements, and to anticipate possible flight diversions.
“Should your travel be urgent, please keep in mind that there is a community quarantine that covers Metro Manila. Kindly check with your airline for the latest travel arrangements, including possible diversion of your flights to Clark International Airport outside Metro Manila, Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Cebu City, and Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City,” said the statement.
In addition, the statement also advised Filipinos planning to return to the UAE to check with their airline in advance, and to monitor official statements and travel advisories from the UAE authorities.
“On return flights to UAE, please undertake necessary preparation by always checking with your airline as well as by monitoring official statements from UAE authorities on latest and most up-to-date travel advisories and quarantine/screening procedures.
