ADB, several gov’t offices closed for disinfection

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) along with several government offices temporarily suspended operations to disinfect their facilities on Thursday amid the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a statement, ADB said it has arranged a work from home schedule for its employees beginning March 12.
The regional lender closed its headquarters to undertake cleaning and disinfecting after one of its visitors tested positive for coronavirus disease.
Several government agencies such as the Department of Finance (DOF), the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), also announced the closure to disinfect and sanitize their facilities, Inquirer reported.
BSP’s headquarters in Pasay City and its facility in Quezon City will be closed from March 12 until 16 for disinfection, while its operations will continue as usual.
Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III announced that the DOF building in Manila will undergo “total disinfection”.
Dominguez, who has placed himself under self-quarantine, also ordered all DOF-attached agencies including the Bureaus of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and the Treasury to thoroughly disinfect all their premises this weekend.
The finance chief, who met the media last week and last Tuesday, encouraged journalists to self-isolate at the moment.
The GSIS Building in Pasay City was also on lockdown after some senators disclosed that they had exposure to a person with COVID-19. The building hosts the Senate.
Thus, members, pensioners, and other transacting clients are advised to use their online channels temporarily for their records verification, inquiries, and other GSIS transactions.
