Saudi Arabia imposed Sunday a temporary lockdown on the eastern province of Qatif due to outbreak of coronavirus disease in the area, Reuters reported.
The declaration came as four new cases were reported by the health ministry.
The oil-producing province is home to all confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry temporarily halted movements coming to and from the province while it assured that residents can return to their homes.
“Work at all public and private institutions is halted as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the disease, with the exception of vital facilities that provide security services and necessary provisions,” the ministry said in a statement.
